Will be blogging about our Spanish trip for a while. This time we covered Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona in 7 days. Valencia, being our first stop, will get first mention.
Highlight in Valencia is definitely the City of Arts and Sciences, which consists five futuristic looking structures mostly designed by reknowned architect, Santiago Calatrava. There were the multifunctional arts complex, Palau de les Reina Sofia; the planetarium, L' Hemispheric; a green belt, L' Umbracle and a science museum with spiky exterior (looking like a giant whale carcass), the Prince Felipe Science Museum.

The remaining building in the 'city' is an aquarium, L' Oceanographic designed by Felix Candela. It's something like Singapore's Underwater World, just much bigger and extensive - reputed to be the largest of its kind in Europe. Entry was 19+euro (student fare) and it was well worth it! There were a few parts to visit - some major ones include the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical, Oceans, Artico, Antartic, Dolphinarium and a couple of underwater tunnels, one as long as 70m. We ended our visit with the evening dolphin show. Ten bubbly dolphins showed us their antics, jumping as high as 2-3 storey high, zooming in the pool with their trainers on their back and dancing to rhythms. I'd say, amazing!
